Parker returns to Clemson

The wait is over! Clemson’s Kyle Parker announced today that he will be returning to the football team this fall, ending speculation of whether the QB would leave school for the Colorado Rockies (Parker was drafted in the 1st round by the Colorado Rockies last month). Parker and the Rockies have been in a bidding war over contract details and both sides reached a stalemate which influenced Parker’s decision. This is fantastic news for the Clemson community as it puts Clemson in a position to make another run at  ACC Atlantic champions. The Tigers won last year’s ACC Atlantic crown on the arm of Parker who broke numerous conference and school records as a freshman last season.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney, nothing less than ecstatic with the news, had this to say concerning Parker’s return: “We are very excited to have Kyle back, whenever you have a returning starter at quarterback who led you to the Atlantic Division title, that is a real plus for your team. He is a dynamic athlete who brings a lot of positives to our offense. When I talked with him late last night, he was excited to get back and get started.”

The news of Parker’s return probably doesn’t sit will with opposing ACC coaches as many were hoping to take advantage of the open conference race due to his possible departure. No so fast folks, the road to Tampa now goes through Clemson, S.C.
