Former UT WR Josh Briscoe (#81) indicted

Some disturbing news is coming out of Sevierville as former Tennessee Vol Josh Briscoe, 23, was named in a three count indictment charging him with one count of soliciting sexual exploitation of a minor and two counts of solicitation of a minor stemming from a text message. If the indictment wasn’t bad enough, the victim was identified as a 15 year old male student athlete from Pigeon Forge High School, where Briscoe was an assistant coach at the time.

The text message in question was vague and could easily be misinterpreted.  You be the judge:

“you owe me a lil action for going off like that”

The text message could suggest sexual favors or maybe something else. Of course, Briscoe’s attorney says that the text message was an inappropriate joke at best and at no time was Briscoe trying to engage in any sex crimes with the victim. Only time will tell what the true intent was behind the message.

Briscoe played for the Vols from 2005-2008 where he caught a career 78 passes for 866 yards and 8 TDs. After a promising junior season, his stock declined sharply with poor production his senior year.  As a free agent, the NFL didn’t pan out and Briscoe went on to coach at Pigeon Forge High.
