LSU's Chad Jones in critical condition after suffering injuries from a motor vehicle accident.

Former LSU safety and Giants’ 3rd round draft pick Chad Jones is undergoing surgery after being involved in a motor vehicle collision earlier this morning in New Orleans. According to police reports, the football and baseball star lost control of his 2010 Range Rover and hit a streetcar pole in New Orleans’ Carrollton Avenue. He broke his left leg and ankle and its been reported that arteries and nerves were exposed which may result in amputation. Jones was charged with careless operation of a vehicle. His toxicology report has yet to be released.

Jones was a arguably the greatest two sport athlete in LSU history receiving national championship rings in football (2007-08) and baseball (2009). He was drafted by the NFL’s New York Giants (76th overall) and MLB’s Houston Astros (13th Round, 2007 draft).

Jones is currently in guarded condition. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jones and his family.
