It is a sad day for the family of Rico Butler and the entire Hilliard Davidson community. Rico Butler, a top 200 junior RB from Hilliard, Ohio, drowned Tuesday night when he was swimming with his friends at a nearby quarry.
The seventeen year old was a standout RB coming in at 5’7, 170 pounds. The speedster was clocked running the 40 yard dash under 4.5 seconds and benched 300 pounds. All signs were pointing to D-1 football as he already received dozens of scholarships to include a ticket to Illinois.
Friends described Butler as a good strong swimmer and were shocked and saddened by the news. It’s a sad day to see such a talent die in a tragic death. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Butler, his family, and friends.
