Eastern Oregon’s coaching staff is at a loss of words after this tragic death

Some tragic news is coming out of Portland, Oregon. On Sunday, Eastern Oregon’s Dylan Steigers died as a result of a head impact collision during the school’s scrimmage game. In the second to last play of the game, Steigers and other defenders dove to tackle the ball carrier. When Steigers got up, he walked over to the sideline, began vomiting, and suddenly needed emergency care.

The athletic trainer immediately contacted 911 and Steigers was taken to Grande Ronde Hospital but eventually flown to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical in Boise, Idaho for emergency care.  Steigers was a transfer from the University of Montana and looked forward to finishing out his collegiate career with Eastern Oregon. His death was caused by an acute subdural hematoma as a result of contact to the head.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Steigers’ family and the Eastern Oregon football community.
