LB Brandon Gouin (#43) was suspended from the team

The Colorado Buffaloes continue to deal with another off-the-field incident. This time Coach Dan Hawkins had no choice but to suspend one of his players for an unfortunate act. Junior LB Brandon Gouin was suspended from the team for providing alcohol to minors. What makes this story disturbing was he was supplying high school kids with booze.

Apparently, Gouin purchased four kegs of Rolling Rock beer for the 200 or so students, one being his brother, attending Boulder High’s senior camp-out this past Wednesday. At one point, the party got so out of hand that 3 teens were taking by ambulance to Boulder Community Hospital for alcohol poisoning and 3 others were taken to an Alcohol Recovery Center. After tracing the kegs back to Gouin, the sheriff’s department ticketed him for providing alcohol to minors. If convicted, he could face up to 18 months in jail and a $5,000 fine.

As a result of Gouin’s participation and purchasing of the kegs, Coach Hawkins was pressured to suspend the LB as he is trying to clean up Colorado’s tainted image. The length of the suspension has not been determined, but this suspension should be a lesson to the players that the school is enforcing discipline.

Gouin graduated from Boulder High in 2007 and was admitted to the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. After one semester as a Falcon, he transferred to Colorado and walked-on the football team.
