Arrest Made In Beard Beating
Maurice Dion Peterson is the most famous man in Eugene right now. Peterson was arrested yesterday in connection with the beating of Oregon kicker Rob Beard. The beating required Beard to undergo surgery to repair bones broken in his face. Peterson is being charged with second-degree assault and is being held Eugene’s Lane County jail. If Peterson skates, he may want to think about relocating as soon as possible. Folks in Eugene love their football and it won’t surprise me if some sort of vigilante justice is exacted.
In all seriousness, what Peterson did was unacceptable and he will more than likely spend a few days in the jail as a guest of the district attorney. Word has it that Beard’s teammate LeGarrette Blount was upset that he wasn’t at the scene when the fight broke-out.
