Baseball or Football? Either way, Tate will be a Star

For a young athlete, Donavan Tate played his cards right and is now going to play professional baseball for the San Diego Padres. Originally, North Carolina and Butch Davis were both excited about the thought of Tate playing for the Tar Heels.

Tate showed up and played during the Tar Heels preseason camp. However, after 4 days he left to focus on his major league baseball contract. Tate was drafted #3 in this year’s MLB draft. The youngster had $6.25 million reasons to trade the pads for a glove (Agent Scott Boras had asked for $6.5 million).

I  presume he suited up with the Tar Heels to create leverage and send a message to the Padres that if you dont pay up Tate will not play baseball. Well played.
