Joe Paterno (1926-2012)

Say what you want about Joe Paterno, but when he passed away on January 22, 2012, the college football world lost an icon.  The Penn State alumni magazine finally took appropriate action by paying tribute to the legendary coach. The March/April 2012 issue of The Penn Stater is fully dedicated to coach Joe Paterno and all the lives he positively affected.

In the words of former PSU QB Todd Blackledge, “no one individual has ever done more for a university anywhere in this country than what Joe Paterno did for this school.”

The 55-page issue is filled with fascinating photos from past to present of the ole ball coach.  The issue provides historical accounts of Joe Paterno’s life as a composer, teacher and cornerstone to the fabric of Penn State.  The most touching tribute was the section on “The Day I Met Joe.” Former and current students regaled their stories in positive light on how meeting JoePa changed their lives forever.

Included in this issue is a touching essay written by Jay Paterno regarding his father’s legacy.  To obtain a copy of The Penn Stater, click here.
