A battle of #1 LSU vs. #2 Alabama features some of the top college atheltes in football.

College football fans are in for a treat this Saturday as #1 LSU squares off against #2 Alabama both pitted with identical 8-0 records. It’s the first regular season match-up of Nos 1 and 2 in SEC history. The level of play on both sides of the ball is paramount featuring arguably 20 plus future NFL stars. In recent years, both teams have created feeder systems straight to the NFL and there will be no shortage of NFL talent on the field Saturday night.

Alabama’s side of the ball is loaded with NFL prospects to include Dont’a Hightower (LB), Barrett Jones (OL), D.J. Fluker (OT), Courtney Upshaw (LB), Mark Barron (SS), Robert Lester (FS), Trent Richardson (RB), ‘Dre Kirkpatrick (CB), Josh Chapman (DT), Marquis Maze (WR), and William Vlachos (C).

Meanwhile, LSU may not have a strong senior class, but Les Miles’s upperclassmen certainly boast some top playmakers with Morris Claiborne (CB), Rueben Randle (WR), Alex Hurst (OT), Ryan Baker (LB), DeAngelo Peterson (TE), and Brandon Taylor (SS) all of whom are setting the groundwork for the riches of the NFL. Notable stars such as Tyrann Mathieu (CB) and Spencer Ware (RB) are conference standouts but are ineligible for April’s draft because they are not three years removed from their high school graduation.

The anticipation is so great that ESPN’s College Gameday is traveling to CBS country to set-up shop in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, despite CBS airing the game. Whether you are an LSU, Alabama, or college football fan in general, tune into this historical match-up because you know NFL scouts will be on the sidelines evaluating the talent for the 2012 draft.
