Mark Dantonio's success on the field translates to new lucrative contract

With the recent success of the Michigan State football program (4-1, 1-0 Big Ten), the university and head coach Mark Dantonio inked a new five-year deal restructuring his already lucrative contract. Most notably, Dantonio’s annual income will rise from $1.8 million to $1.83 million.

The contract also includes several incentives such as a $100,000 bonus for winning the Big Ten Championship Game, a $100,000 shoe and apparel agreement, and a $2 million dollar payday if he remains head coach until 2016. If the financial package isn’t clear enough for fans to recognize that the university wants Dantonio for life, the new contract also guarantees him a position within the athletic department for a minimum of two years upon retirement.

In just five-years, Dantonio has improved the face of the program coming off of a very successful 2010 campaign taking a share of the Big Ten title (first time in 20 years) in an 11 win season.
