A few select football players from the Vanderbilt Commodores created a fraternity within the team dubbed the Biker ‘Dores. Approximately 12 players on the roster scoot around campus in suped-up scooters. The most notable enduro rider is 6’5, 300 lb. tackle Ryan Seymour. One reason for the escalated scooter use, players are tired of paying parking tickets, so they’re trading their cars for scooters, the new preferred method of transportation.
Despite pleas to refrain from scooter use, head Coach James Franklin is concerned about the safety of the two-wheeled contraptions. It wasn’t too long ago Franklin was the offensive coordinator at Maryland when two of his players were seriously injured after separate scooter incidents.
Unfortunately for head coaches across the nation, look no further than Georgia, scooter usage is increasing as players are finding new low cost forms of personal transportation while having fun at the same time.
