Air Force must Aim Higher

For those 70,000 fans that witnessed the spectacular aerial T-38 flyover at Kinnick Stadium back on November 20, 2010, the Air Force has finally come down on the pilots. When Iowa hosted Ohio State, the university thought a military flyover would be a patriotic way to conclude the pregame festivities. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to the fans, the squandering created an unnecessary risk for all those who attended by flying too close to the ground. Maj. Christopher Kopacek was the flight...

The Act is designed to punish sports agents who flash cash in front of vulnerable student-athletes...

SMU vandalized by TCU

An apparent TCU fan, with no artistic ability, decided to deface SMU’s Ford Stadium by spray painting “TCU” and “TCU Frogs” all throughout the stadium. Doors, ice machines, pavement, and even a golf cart fell victim to an orange color spray paint. The tagging began at the visitors entrance and ended at Loyd All-Sports Center. Official reports noted that at least 15-16 TCU related messages were found in-and-around the stadium. The school is in the process of power washing...

Auburn’s BCS trip was costly, but financially sound

Auburn may have won their first national title in over 50 years, but financially speaking, the program lost $614,106 during their nine-day trip to Glendale, Arizona. During the BCS Championship festivities, Auburn spent a grand total of $2,901,706 for team travel, meals, tickets, entertainment, awards, promotion, equipment and lodging, well above their allotment of $2,263,295. At first glance, it seems as though Auburn’s trip was not financially sound, but in the end, the university actually made millions. According to...

Julio Jones impresses at combine despite fractured foot

Alabama WR Julio Jones impressed scouts during the NFL combine with his uncanny athleticism topped by a speedy 4.39 40-yard dash, 11 foot 3 inch broad jump, and a vertical leap of 38.5 inches.
