Tyler’s Time

USC’s Marc Tyler will start at tailback for the Trojans on Thursday night when USC travels to Hawaii for their season opener against the Warriors. Tyler and Allen Bradford were competing for the starting job this off-season and many expected Bradford to fill the shoes of former Trojan RB Joe McKnight. However, Tyler had other plans in mind. Plagued by a toe injury last season, Tyler only saw action in one game in which he rushed five times for 72...

Return to Sender: USC stripped of ’04 Grantland Rice Trophy

The hits just keep on coming for the Trojans. This time the Trojans have the honor of achieving something no other collegiate football championship team has ever accomplished–the revocation of a national championship award. The 2004 Grantland Rice Trophy, awarded by the Football Writers Association of America to the nation’s top college football team, has been stripped from the program. The committee voted and agreed that USC was not deserving of the award due to its most recent NCAA rules...

Aaron Corp: Richmond’s new starter

Former SC Trojan and Villa Park native Aaron Corp has finally won the starting job at Richmond under 1st year head coach Latrell Scott. Corp, who is no stranger to QB battles, ousted sophomore John Laub in a tremendous QB competition. Corp, a red-shirt junior, transferred to Richmond after two seasons under Pete Carroll. It was anticipated that Corp would be the starter come 2009, but then-freshman Matt Barkley beat out Corp (who suffered a leg injury during preseason)....

SC’s Dillon Baxter suspended for season opener

For those of you anxious to see freshman running back Dillon Baxter spin in a Trojans uniform, you will have to wait an extra week as the highly touted recruit has been suspended for the season opener. Dillon Baxter will not be traveling with the team to Hawaii for the September 2nd opener as he was cited for violating team rules. Coach Lane Kiffin would not specify the exact violation, but his action is sending a stern message to...

Titans sue Kiffin and USC

Because USC’s culture is anything but desirable, it’s fitting the program was hit with another black eye. Today, the Tennessee Titans filed a lawsuit against USC and coach Lane Kiffin for “maliciously” interfering with coach Kennedy Pola’s contract when they lured him away from the Titans. Coach Jeff Fisher, a USC alum, was irked by the lack of respect and professionalism displayed by Kiffin for failing to contact Fisher or the team before pursuing Pola. Fisher hired Pola through...

A Titan comes to Troy

USC’s adoration for making headlines continues tonight as Lane Kiffin managed to piss someone off beyond the college football world. Earlier today, Kiffin snagged Tennessee Titans running backs coach Kennedy Pola to coach his offense without even having the respect to contact Titans coach Jeff Fisher as a courtesy. Only after Kiffin and Pola made arrangements did he finally decide to contact Fisher. Pola, a former Trojan, will assume ousted Todd McNair’s duties and looks forward to his return...

Buffs snag USC’s Patterson

The Colorado Buffaloes are next in the receiving line of USC transfers as WR Travon Patterson is headed to the Centennial State. The senior WR never got a chance to shine at USC being he was buried in the depth chart of the talented rich WR pool. As a Trojan, the speedster did return punts and saw some special teams playing time but as a WR he only amassed 10 catches for 96 yards, hardly NFL material.  Though he only...
