Trojans lose some legs

The spotlight is still shining on the Trojans as a lot of questions remain unanswered in LALA land. As the team anxiously left the City of Angels to head for the Bay Area for this Saturday’s Emerald Bowl, four notable players did not make the journey. TE Anthony McCoy, T Tyron Smith, and DE Averell Spicer will all be hitting the books this weekend as the three are academically ineligible to play on the 26th. Tailback Joe McKnight is...

WR Williams on track to face UCLA

As SC tries to salvage their disappointing 2009 campaign, there is some good news coming out of Los Angeles. WR Damian Williams, who missed the blowout loss to Stanford with an ankle sprain, has been practicing with the team and all signs are pointing to his return. Pete Carroll will not officially announce his status until later in the week when SC faces UCLA. The Trojans are in bad need of an offensive spark and Williams in the line-up...

WR Bryant has injury bug

It’s comforting to see a school not prematurely throw back injured athletes onto the field for the sake of winning. Much to the dismay of the Cowboys faithful, Oklahoma State’s Dez Bryant will be held out of today’s game against Grambling State. The top WR in the nation is still nursing a tweaked hamstring and the school believes the best course of action would be to rest Bryant until he is fully recovered (Pete Carroll, please take notes). The...

Carroll to start injured Barkley

After a disheartening loss to Washington last weekend 13-16, Pete Carroll has had enough of Aaron Corp and will start QB Matt Barkley this Saturday. As Barkley takes snaps under center against Washington State, the question remains is he being thrown into the game prematurely? Carroll’s announcement seems a bit umbrageous, stating that Barkley’s bruised right shoulder has healed enough to put him back in the lineup. The phrase “has healed enough” should be a concern for fans and Barkley....

Corp May Start for Trojans on Saturday

USC sophomore QB Aaron Corp will more than likely start in place of Matt Barkley this Saturday when USC travels to Seattle to take on the Washington Huskies. The Trojans are coming off of a huge road victory against Ohio State. Matt Barkley, USC’s starting quarterback, suffered a bruised right  shoulder last weekend against the Buckeyes and it is looking as if he will not see action this week. Corp and Barkley were involved in a heated QB competition...

CB Baucham out after car accident

This has been a tough week for Pete Carroll as he has been constantly shuffling the team’s depth chart for Saturday’s match-up against Washington. All week there has been question as to whether or not QB Matt Barkley is healthy enough to play. Now it looks like freshman CB Brian Baucham will be forced to sit out after suffering minor injuries in a motor vehicle accident this morning. Bauchman was on his way to school when he was involved...

Wright Is Wrong

USC’s Shareece Wright is academically ineligible for the 2009 college football season. USC coach Pete Carroll broke the news Monday evening,“Shareece didn’t get it done. He didn’t get the GPA he needed to get.” Wright was expected to start at cornerback for the Trojans this season. He started in the first two games for USC last season but was forced to miss the rest of the year  after suffering a hairline fracture in his neck during practice the third...

RoJo Breaks Clavicle

The Trojan’s took a big hit this weekend on offense. On Saturday, sure handed WR Ronald Johnson (Jr. 6’1, 185lbs.) broke his collarbone during a mock scrimmage game at the L.A. Coliseum. Johnson was slated to be the flanker and the #2 receiver behind All-American candidate Damian Williams. Pete Carroll is saying Johnson will be out for at least 6-8 weeks. Johnson was also regarded as the Trojan’s top deep threat receiver and earned returning duties on special teams....
