Grand Theft Golf Cart

Things are getting a little hairy for the Beaver football team. Gas prices in Corvallis, Oregon, apparently are so high that folks are resorting to stealing golf carts for their mode of transportation. Brennan Olander, a 6’1, 276 lb. defensive tackle was arrested along with former Oregon State football players QB Lyle Moevao, and LB Keaton Kristick. The three men stole the golf cart from the Oregon State athletic offices and used it for three days before flipping it...

Can Boise State contend for the 2011 BCS National Title?

For the past few seasons, Cinderella has been living in Boise, Idaho. Boise State has been the Madonna of the college football world for the last 4 seasons, you either love them or hate them. But beware Bronco haters, a heavy dose of Boise State love is in store for the 2010 college football season as they’ll more than likely enter the season in the top 5 of the AP poll. Boise State  finished their 2009 campaign with a...

Beavers can’t catch a break

Fans in Corvallis got some bad news from the NCAA. Unfortunately, the NCAA denied Oregon State QB Lyle Moevao’s appeal for an additional year of eligibility. Moevao injured his right shoulder during the 2008 season that ultimately led to shoulder surgery. After recovering from the surgery, Moevao worked his way back onto the field for the 2009 season to only play one down. In October of 2009, he injured his right ankle which ended his season. Due to his extensive...

4th & Inches: links to drive you to the weekend

It’s Friday and the Northeast is getting blanketed by snow and gale force winds. So to all my faithfuls in NYC who trekked into work this morning, today’s links are especially for you. First off, you can rest easy. Former Georgia Bulldog great Knowshon Moreno is cleared from charges for allegedley sucker punching an 18 year old this past Saturday night at the Bourbon Street bar in Athens, Georgia. In the purest form of patriotism, bravery, and unselfishness, Oregon State’s LB David Pa’aluhi is trading...

Oregon Comes Up Roses!

Oregon is headed to Pasadena for a January 1st Rose Bowl date with Ohio State. Oregon hasn’t played in the Rose Bowl since 1995. Thursday night’s edition of the Civil War had high stakes with the winner claiming the Pac-10 crown and an all expense paid trip to sunny California for the holidays. The game lived up to all its hype as Oregon won 37-33 after converting on two crucial fourth down attempts on its final drive. Oregon State played...

Another violent Duck

The Pac 10 Civil War showdown is set for this Thursday between Oregon and Oregon State. The winner gets the big prize: an automatic birth to the Rose Bowl to face Ohio State. The excitement of a Rose Bowl invitation may be too much to handle for the players just ask Terrance Montgomery. Unfortunately, Montgomery lost his self control as he was arrested on Monday by Springfield police and jailed on assault charges for choking an unnamed female at...

Cal’s Best Heisman hope is out

Cal got a huge scare this weekend after RB Jahvid Best was knocked unconscious after his signature high-flying leap into the end zone against Oregon State. This is his second straight concussion after he suffered a mild concussion the previous week against Arizona State. After his leap, the junior was taken to an Oakland area hospital where he was diagnosed with a severe concussion, but fortunately CT scans and x-rays came back normal. Though he left the hospital within 24 hours, he will be sidelined...

“I don’t like talking about fumbles!”

For those of you who don’t follow Oregon State football, here is a surprising statistic that no one seems to be talking about. RB Jacquizz Rodgers has amassed 161.6 all-purpose yards/game with 15 TDs this season. He is one of the top RBs in the Pac-10. But the most impressive statistic is he has never fumbled a football in his 510 college football touches. This is a remarkable feat for the 5’7, 191lb RB. When asked about this streak,...
