Carroll to start injured Barkley

After a disheartening loss to Washington last weekend 13-16, Pete Carroll has had enough of Aaron Corp and will start QB Matt Barkley this Saturday. As Barkley takes snaps under center against Washington State, the question remains is he being thrown into the game prematurely? Carroll’s announcement seems a bit umbrageous, stating that Barkley’s bruised right shoulder has healed enough to put him back in the lineup. The phrase “has healed enough” should be a concern for fans and Barkley....

Corp May Start for Trojans on Saturday

USC sophomore QB Aaron Corp will more than likely start in place of Matt Barkley this Saturday when USC travels to Seattle to take on the Washington Huskies. The Trojans are coming off of a huge road victory against Ohio State. Matt Barkley, USC’s starting quarterback, suffered a bruised right  shoulder last weekend against the Buckeyes and it is looking as if he will not see action this week. CB Baucham out after car accident

This has been a tough week for Pete Carroll as he has been constantly shuffling the team’s depth chart for Saturday’s match-up against Washington. As a result, he may have suffered a concussion...

Freshman QB Barkley gets historical Nod

From day one, Pete Carroll loved the poise and grace of true freshman QB Matt Barkley. Since Barkley enrolled at SC, he has been battling Aaron Corp for the starting job. From the start, Corp had a leg up and a competitive advantage; however, that did not stop Barkley from continuing to impress the coaching staff and most importantly Carroll. “He has exceeded all our expectations. He has all the physical ability, he has the mentality and temperament to...

Frosh QB Barkley Impresses Coaches While Corp is out

Freshman QB Matt Barkley (Fr. 6’2, 230 lbs.) is getting his chance to shine during Southern Cal’s preseason camp as projected started Aaron Corp is nursing a swollen left knee. Corp impressed Pete Carroll during spring ball and was slated to get the starting job over Barkley and Arkansas transfer Mitch Mustain. Now sidelined, the Trojans, for now, have placed Barkley under center. Barkley, so far, has impressed Carroll and QB coach Jeremy Bates. For a player his age,...
