Martinez Shines in Lincoln

Nebraska’s Taylor Martinez stole the headlines in the Huskers’ Red-White game on Saturday afternoon. The redshirt freshman QB filled in for injured starting QB Zac Lee. Lee underwent off-season elbow surgery on his throwing arm in early January which sidelined him for all of Nebraska’s spring practice. Husker faithful assumed that Lee would still have the starting job secured by the time of his return but it now looks as if a full blown QB competition is underway in Lincoln, NE....

Gilbert impresses in spring scrimmage

The Garrett Gilbert era is officially underway in Austin, Texas. The rising sophomore was thrown into the fire as a true freshman during the 2010 BCS National Championship game against Alabama after Texas starting QB Colt McCoy left the game in the first quarter with an injury. Even though Gilbert only went 15-40 for 146 yards with 2 TDs and 4 INTs, his Longhorns were still in the game heading into the last 10 minutes of the 4th quarter. Gilbert impressed...

Listen to the Bible

We all know everything is bigger and better in Texas and it’s easy to forget that big mouths also come from the South. Texas’ star recruit, Taylor Bible who is still in high school and is actually known to be more of the quiet type, vowed that the Longhorns will win the next four Red River Shootouts and four BCS Titles. That is quite a big prediction for the 6’3 278 pound defensive lineman who plans on enrolling this...

Raising Arizona

Arizona coach Mike Stoops believes in second chances. Former Texas receiver Dan Buckner is going to the University of Arizona to continue his collegiate football career. Buckner was dismissed from the Texas football program after being arrested on trespassing and resisting arrest charges on January 13th. The charges stemmed from an altercation between Buckner and his girlfriend, when he refused to leave his girlfriend’s apartment apartment after she asked him to do so. Buckner, if he can manage to...

Gilbert who?

Garrett Gilbert almost became a household name as he nearly pulled off a Texas rally in the Citi BCS National Championship game last night. When All-American QB Colt McCoy went down in the first series of the game over 90,000 fans saw Mack Brown call #3’s number. As the true freshman trotted onto the field, the Crimson Tide fanbase could smell Gilbert’s fear and taste victory. Gilbert’s first half performance was expectantly poor. His nerves and lack of experience reflected as...

The Longhorns will Roll over the Tide

The BCS National Championship Game airs tonight with a match-up of #1 Alabama v. #2 Texas. The experts are all saying that Alabama should win this game (some say by 10 though the line is hovering around 4). As it stands, the SEC is 5- 0 in the BCS National Championship Game with most saying the Tide will safely make it to 6-0. However, in the words of Lee Corso, NOT SO FAST, MY FRIEND! The Longhorns are averaging over 40...

Longhorn Hooked By The Law

Texas junior Brandon Collins has been dismissed from the football team after being arrested and charged with aggravated robbery and engaging in organized criminal activity . Collins is using a redshirt this year and hasn’t played in any of the team’s football games this season. Collins was ruled academically ineligible for this season which forced Texas to burn a redshirt season on him. Reynolds To Apply For Medical Redshirt

Sooner LB Ryan Reynolds has filed the proper paperwork with the NCAA for a medical hardship. The senior tore his ACL in last year’s game against Texas and missed the rest of the season because of it. Reynolds will not hear back from the NCAA until after the season is over, but optimism abounds in Norman. Former OU QB received a medical hardship after sustaining the same injury and missing around the same amount of time as Reynolds. Reynolds has...
