Zook turning to third string QB Charest

Things are looking a bit grim in Champaign for Ron Zook’s squad. The Illini have hit an all time low with a paltry 1-5 record and 0-4 in conference play. Zook is doing all he can to bring about some change to the team and spark a little fire. He has already benched QB Juice Williams for back-up Eddie McGee, but this move failed miserably as of late as evidenced in Illinois’ loss to Indiana 27-14 this past Saturday....

Lee doubtful against Illinois

Penn State’s star LB Sean Lee is still doubtful for this Saturday’s match-up against Illinois. He is currently rehabbing his injured knee from the Temple game. Even if he gets back to 100% by Saturday, he will not be in game shape because of the long layoff. However, if Lee plays or not, it shouldn’t be too much of a concern as PSU’s defense is playing great ball considering its youth and on-going injury problems. Contract Extension for Zook

Illinois is contemplating on whether or not to extend Ron Zook’s contract for an additional year (Zook has a 19-30 record at Illinois). This would leave Zook at the healm through 2014. The  president of the University, Joseph White, has recommended the approval of the extension. The board of trustees, who meet next Thursday, will likely follow White’s recommendation and approve the extension. If approved, this will be Zook’s second extension. Not bad for a coach who makes $1,505,000.00...
