The Bearcats are continuing their dream season this Friday as they face-off against a well balanced West Virginia team. Unfortunately for the Bearcats, they will have to huddle around QB Zach Collaros as Tony Pike is still not there yet in terms of recovering from his forearm injury. Even though Pike has already missed the last 3 games, the Bearcats are still finding ways to win. Most recently, they were able to hold-off Connecticut in a shoot-out 47-45.
The Matador is saying it now, Bobby Bowden will not be the head coach of Florida State come next season. Not only are the Seminoles 4-5 and face their first losing season in over 30 years, but now the starting QB Christian Ponder is out for the rest of the season with a separated right shoulder. In the wake of Memphis’ Tommy West’s departure, potential head coach replacements have already been named in Tommy Tuberville and Terry Bowden. Tuberville and Bowden are the front-runners for the position. Tuberville’s resume includes the former head coaching job at Auburn. Meanwhile, Bowden is the current coach at Div. II North Alabama. Others being considered are Auburn’s offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, LSU’s assistant Larry Porter, and Florida’s defensive coordinator Charlie Strong. Unfortunately, The Matador is not under consideration.

Cal got a huge scare this weekend after RB Jahvid Best was knocked unconscious after his signature high-flying leap into the end zone against Oregon State. This is his second straight concussion after he suffered a mild concussion the previous week against Arizona State. After his leap, the junior was taken to an Oakland area hospital where he was diagnosed with a severe concussion, but fortunately CT scans and x-rays came back normal.
