The Atlantic Coast Conference is exploring the culinary arts by opening the ACC American Café in the newly renovated Terminal 1 at Raleigh-Durham International Airport.  Though the decor will be laden with ACC memorabilia, this will not be a traditional sports bar.  Rather the ACC will feature a more upscale restaurant with local fare from the home cities of each member school such as Boston clam chowder, N.C. barbecue, Georgia peach relish, and Miami ceviche.

The ACC American Café is expected to open in early 2014. A portion of the proceeds will go to athletic scholarships and the restaurant will open its doors for internship opportunities for ACC students in the culinary arts and restaurant management field.
