Joe Paterno once turned down job offer from Al Davis

As college and NFL teams paid tribute to the passing of NFL legendary owner Al Davis this past weekend, Penn State’s Joe Paterno addressed his relationship with his fellow Brooklyn native. During a post-game interview after Saturday’s defensive win over conference nemesis Iowa 13-3, Paterno reflected on the passing of Davis stating, “he was a tough guy. QB Matt McGloin earns starting job for Penn State?

With the Indiana State Sycamores traveling to Happy Valley, there were questions on the Penn State sidelines concerning who will start under center, QB Matthew McGloin or QB Robert Bolden.  In a 41-7 trouncing of the Sycamores neither Penn State QB shattered any passing records, but Penn State appeared to be more productive and efficient on offense with McGloin calling the shots.  There was nothing Robert Bolden did on the field to show he earned the starting job. McGloin...

Michigan gambles by adding Appalachian State in 2014

Seven years ago, Michigan was the laughing stock of college football after Appalachian State, Division 1-AA powerhouse, blocked a game winning field-goal stunning, not to mention embarrassing, the Wolverines in a 32-34 upset.  The shock waves are still present in Ann Arbor, and to exact revenge, Michigan’s AD David Brandon agreed to reschedule a date with Appalachian State for the 2014 season opener.  In Montgomery Burns fashion, Brandon cracked his knuckles and announced to the Wolverine Nation that “we look...

Joe Paterno injured during practice

Legendary coach Joe Paterno has yet again caused concern for the Nittany Lion faithful.  Yesterday, the old ball coach was injured during practice after he was blindsided by the speedy Devon Smith during a running drill.  Though Paterno was able to walk off the practice field, he did sustain injuries to his right arm and hip (injuries include a hairline fracture in both shoulders and pelvis). With his never say die attitude, coach Paterno conducted today’s coaches meeting over speaker...

According to NCAA rules, a school is allowed to cover course textbooks, but nothing else. This means when the school provided professor recommended books, secondary sources, and various school supplies, it violated NCAA rules. After an internal investigation, Nebraska’s...
